My 97 Srad Overheats when only I'm in traffic. Besides that, the fan comes on at the right temp and I even have water wetter in it also. I'm thinking about swapping a K1 GSXR 1000 radiator and seeing if that keeps the temp down. What do you guys think?

try changing the radiator cap that might be cheap fix. slight gap will prevent fan from coming on.
I think muzzy use to sell metal fans and replace the stock plastic crap.
See if that works also your thermostat might be sticking that happen to me on two SRAd engines. The little rod might be bent.
radiator cap and thermostat are cheap fixes. ;)

They just get hot in traffic new or old bike.
If fan is coming on then sounds like everything is working.
Water wetter might help.
Your just going to deal with it.

Yeah I know all bikes get hot in traffic, but mine will cut off and its embarrassing. But I'm think I'm going to check into the cap and thermostat. Thanks for the info though.

Wow! Same bike same problem! my first thought was a bad water pump or even a faulty temp switch,or a gauge malfunction. First a cap than the thermostat. Does anyone know how much pressure is best to pick a cap??? ;DOh,yea the k1 raidator and fans is still a good idea!!

Make sure you're running only super unleaded fuel also you have to make sure you have a good flow of air going through your intakes. Too much and it will shut off and too little it will overheat. If the fuel pump is not working properly and enough fuel is not flowwing through it will also cause it to overheat. If you have an aftermarket exhaust you'll need a jet -kit that is compatible with the manufactuer of the exhaust. If it's not compatiable it will sometimes not have the sufficent flow of air going through that will help keep your engine cool .
